Wilkesboro, North Wilkesboro & Wilkes County

Goatscaping in Wilkesboro.

West along 421, on the Yadkin — steep ground, river edges and a lot of kudzu.

Why grazing fits Wilkesboro properties

Wilkes County is Yadkin River country, and river ground is difficult ground. Steep banks running down to water, bottomland that stays soft, and buffer strips where nobody should be spraying. It's the combination that makes conventional clearing awkward and expensive here.

Kudzu has had a long run in this county, particularly on the older highway banks and cut slopes along 421 and the secondary roads. Once it's into a treeline it climbs, and once it's climbing it spreads faster than most owners expect.

Because the terrain is what it is, this is good country for our GPS collars as well as netting — on a long ridge or a river bank where carrying fence in isn't practical, we can hold a grazing boundary without building one on the ground.

What we're usually called for here

  • Kudzu on highway banks, cut slopes and treelines
  • Steep river banks along the Yadkin
  • Bottomland and buffer strips where spray is a problem
  • Overgrown acreage and idle farm ground
  • Long, awkward ground better suited to GPS containment

Getting an estimate

We come out and walk the property with you — the terrain, the access, what's actually growing and how established it is. You get a plan and a price on site, and an honest answer about whether grazing is the right tool for your particular piece of ground. Sometimes it isn't, and we'll say so.

Call (336) 502-4628, or send us the details and we'll get back to you.
